Privacy Policy

This policy applies to all services on livehack.tools, including the Melder and the Injector.

What I collect

  • Uploaded files: When you use any tool, your ALS files are temporarily stored on my server for processing. All uploaded and result files are automatically deleted within 1 hour.
  • Session cookies: I use a session cookie to link your uploads to your browser tab. It contains no personal information and expires when you close your browser.
  • Usage analytics: I collect the following to understand how the service is used:
    • A one-way hash of your IP address (I cannot reverse this to your real IP)
    • Approximate location (country and city, derived from your IP at the time of the request — the raw IP is then discarded)
    • Browser type, operating system, and device type (e.g. "Chrome 120 / macOS / Desktop" — not the full User-Agent string)
    • Referrer domain (where you came from, e.g. "google.com")
    • Processing metadata: file sizes, processing duration, success/failure, and which options were selected
  • Processing logs: Technical log files from each operation are retained for debugging and quality improvement. These logs contain processing steps and any errors — they do not contain the musical content of your projects.

What I do NOT collect

  • I do not require an account, email, or any personal information to use the service.
  • I do not use browser fingerprinting, third-party tracking, or advertising scripts.
  • I do not store your raw IP address — only a one-way hash.
  • I do not share, sell, or transfer your files or data to any third party.

File handling

Your Ableton Live Set files are processed entirely on my server. They are used solely for the purpose of performing the operation you requested (merging, shortcut injection, etc.). All uploaded files and results are automatically deleted within 1 hour. Processing log files (which contain no musical content) are retained for service improvement.

Analytics data retention

Usage analytics (as described above) are stored indefinitely to help me understand usage trends over time. Because the data is pseudonymized (hashed IP, no filenames linked to accounts), it cannot be used to identify you personally.

Cookies

This site uses a single essential session cookie required for the service to function. No consent banner is needed as it is strictly necessary and contains no tracking data.

Legal basis (GDPR)

I process the analytics data described above under legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) — specifically, my interest in understanding how the service is used and improving it. I have minimized the data collected and pseudonymized personal data (IP hashing, no raw storage) to protect your privacy.

Your rights (GDPR)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data I hold about you. Since I collect only pseudonymized data and temporary files that are auto-deleted, there is typically nothing identifiable to request. If you have concerns, contact me at hello@livehack.tools.

Terms of Use

LiveHack tools are provided as-is, without warranty. While I take care to ensure correct results, you are responsible for verifying the output. Always keep backups of your original Ableton Live Sets.
